Concrete driveways, patios and pads in Godley
Start with the improvement you want: a better driveway entrance, more patio space, a path through the yard or a pad for a planned shed. Mention whether the work replaces existing concrete or adds a new area.
A provider can discuss the project before you have a final drawing. Tell us the property’s city or ZIP, a callback number and a few details about the work. The site layout, finish and detailed measurements can follow.
A ditch crossing and a curbed entrance need different scopes
Godley’s 2024 Comprehensive Plan describes a road network that was not fully built out with curbs and gutters. That is useful context, but the contractor still needs to inspect your actual street edge, including any newer subdivision improvements.
For a city right-of-way project, Godley’s application requires approval before work starts. A county-road ditch or state-highway entrance has a different route. Use the permit guide to identify the authority, then ask which crossing or approach work belongs in the quote. Do not assume widening the paved area also settles the drainage underneath it.
Patio and pad levels near West Nolan Creek tributaries
The city plan describes West Nolan Creek running generally south from the northwest, parallel to Highway 171, with tributaries passing under the highway toward downtown. This does not establish flood risk for a particular home.
Before extending a patio or adding fill, identify the water path around the proposed area. Ask how the new level will meet doors, steps, adjoining slabs and the drainage outlet. Where a creek, mapped floodplain or unclear drainage boundary affects the property, obtain the appropriate site-specific review. A general town description cannot determine the finished height of a private slab.

Delivery access and concrete placement
Check the route from the road to the proposed work. Gates, tight turns, overhead obstructions and space to set up equipment can affect how the contractor reaches a backyard pad.
Godley’s plan also identifies the railroad beside Highway 171 and the limited crossing points. Ask the provider to confirm its delivery route rather than assuming that the closest-looking approach is suitable. On the property itself, agree which fences or gates may need temporary removal and what ground must be restored afterward. Do not infer a current truck restriction from the planning map.

A shed slab, parking pad and patio are not interchangeable
A patio is planned around walking and outdoor use. A parking pad must suit the intended vehicle. A shed slab has to work with the building layout and loads. Tell the contractor about future uses before choosing the final design.
For example, a patio that may later support a roof deserves a conversation about the intended posts and structure now. A pad for equipment needs more detail than the equipment’s footprint alone. Begin with the shed slab guide when a building is part of the plan, or the patio guide for an outdoor living area.
What a Godley quote should include
Use the example closest to your job:
| Project | Parts to describe separately |
|---|---|
| Driveway entrance and extension | Road connection, crossing or culvert assessment, private drive area, removal, finish and approvals. |
| Backyard patio or shed pad | Access route, existing levels, intended loads, preparation, concrete, finish and disturbed-area cleanup. |
Ask which items are included, which need further design and how changes will be priced. A total is easier to compare when both providers describe the same work.
Burleson Concrete Quotes is an independent referral website. A provider may contact you to discuss the project and confirm service at your address.
