New driveway or driveway replacement?
For a new driveway, the first decision is its route and usable parking space. For replacement, there is another question: what caused the existing surface to deteriorate? A quote for a fresh surface should explain whether it also addresses the underlying problem.
A few visible cracks do not, by themselves, decide whether the entire driveway should be replaced. The International Masonry Institute’s restoration guidance puts condition and cause assessment before choosing a repair. A section replacement, a specialist repair and a complete new driveway are different proposals. Our repair-or-replace guide helps compare those boundaries.

Driveway levels, parking and drainage
Look at the whole trip from the road to the garage. Is the current driveway too narrow when doors are open? Does a second vehicle block the route to the house? Are you keeping the footprint or changing it?
The ground, garage threshold, adjoining paths and street connection also belong in the site assessment. Drainage should be planned before concrete is placed, not left as a finishing decision. Tell the provider where you have noticed water collecting; you do not need to work out the solution yourself. The drainage guide explains which observations are useful.
Driveway concrete, joints and finish
A useful proposal explains more than concrete thickness. Ask how the intended vehicle use relates to the support, reinforcement, joint layout and surface texture.
| Part of the proposal | Decision it should explain |
|---|---|
| Support beneath the slab | What preparation is needed before placement? |
| Reinforcement | What is specified, and how will it be positioned? |
| Joints | Where are movement and placement boundaries planned? |
| Finish | What texture suits an outdoor vehicle and walking surface? |
The NRMCA cracking guide explains that reinforcement can control crack width without preventing all cracking. Be cautious about treating “more steel” as a substitute for the rest of the design. See thickness and reinforcement questions.
What driveway replacement includes
Tex-Tex Concrete’s published DFW pricing, checked November 2, 2026, gives a $4,000–$9,000 two-car driveway replacement example including demolition, haul-off and new 4-inch flatwork. It is that provider’s budgeting example, not our price or a Burleson average; the page does not give dimensions.
Use it to understand scope, rather than to price an unseen driveway. Check removal limits, ground preparation, new footprint, finish and cleanup against the actual proposal. The replacement cost guide explains why separately adding demolition to an inclusive example would count it twice.
Access during driveway work
Before work starts, agree where vehicles will stay and how people will reach the house. Ask who will confirm when the new surface can take foot traffic and then your vehicles. Those are separate questions, and a dry-looking surface is not a loading instruction.
Describe the driveway you want to add or replace, your Burleson or nearby Johnson County location, and a callback number. Exact measurements and a chosen finish can come later. Burleson Concrete Quotes is an independent referral website; a provider may contact you about the project.
